Statement

My linocuts and monotypes tell personal or perhaps universal stories created from images which may be either past or present, mystical or intellectual. They may contain strong black and white line work and/or colorful botanical images.  I love the rural landscape that surrounds me and choose to use its animals and plants in my artwork. Many of my images come from within. They suggest stories that also relate to my life. The narrative may not be the same for the viewer as it is for me.

How often do we get to do it again?

My linocut images may be repeated many times and used in many different ways. Sometimes I print them over monotypes, edition them, collage or cut out for wall installations. Frequently, images start out as a simple drawing in my art journal. They are then refined and redrawn many times before being carved into linoleum. Just as a good story bears repeating and characters in one narrative may reappear in another, my linocut images are reused, examined and perhaps changed over many years.
